Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about working with us
Booking & Payment
How do I book a photography session?
Booking is simple. Start by contacting us through our contact form, email, or phone. We'll discuss your requirements, check availability, and suggest suitable dates. Once we've agreed on the details, we'll send you a booking confirmation and request a 30% deposit to secure your date. The remaining balance is due one week before your session.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept bank transfers, major credit cards, and PayPal. For commercial clients, we can provide invoicing with net-15 payment terms upon request and credit approval.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand that circumstances change. Cancellations made more than 14 days before your session are eligible for a full refund of your deposit. Cancellations between 7-14 days receive a 50% refund of the deposit. Cancellations within 7 days of your session are non-refundable, but we'll work with you to reschedule if possible. In case of severe weather or illness, we'll reschedule your session at no additional cost.
Photography Sessions
Why do you focus on black and white photography?
Our black and white aesthetic strips away the distraction of color to focus on composition, texture, light, and shadow. This approach creates timeless images with enhanced emotional impact and distinctive character. By working in monochrome, we can highlight the interplay of form and space that might otherwise be overlooked. While we do offer color photography when requested, our signature style emphasizes the rich tonal depth and contrast that black and white imagery provides.
How long until I receive my photos?
Standard delivery time is 2-3 weeks for portrait sessions and 3-4 weeks for events, depending on seasonality. Each image undergoes careful post-processing to ensure optimal contrast, tonal range, and texture. For commercial clients with specific deadlines, we offer expedited processing options. You'll receive an online gallery link where you can view, download, and share your images.
What should I wear for my portrait session?
Since we specialize in black and white photography, we recommend clothing with interesting textures, varying tones, and clean lines. Avoid busy patterns and logos as they can be distracting. Layers add depth and dimension. For group portraits, coordinate tones without matching exactly. During your pre-session consultation, we'll provide specific guidance based on your session type and location. We're happy to review your wardrobe options beforehand.
Do you travel for sessions?
Yes, we travel throughout the Greater Austin area at no additional cost. For locations beyond 30 miles from our studio, a travel fee applies. We also take select national and international commissions across the United States for commercial clients and special events. If you have a specific location in mind, please mention it when you inquire so we can provide accurate pricing.
Products & Deliverables
What print options do you offer?
We offer museum-quality prints on premium archival papers including fiber-based baryta, cotton rag, and metallic. Each print is inspected for accurate tonal reproduction and detail before delivery. Available sizes range from 8"×10" to 24"×36", with custom sizes available upon request. Framing options include minimalist gallery frames in black, white, or natural wood finishes. All prints come with handling and care instructions to ensure longevity.
Do you provide the digital files?
Yes, all our packages include carefully edited high-resolution digital files delivered through a password-protected online gallery. These files are suitable for printing up to 24"×36" and include personal usage rights. Commercial usage rights are included in our commercial packages or can be purchased separately. Each image is provided in both high-resolution JPEG format and web-optimized versions for social media sharing.
Can I request both color and black and white versions?
While our signature style is black and white, we can provide color versions of select images upon request for an additional fee. Keep in mind that our shooting approach is optimized for monochromatic output—we focus on lighting, contrast, and composition that specifically enhances black and white imagery. For clients requiring primarily color photography, please discuss this during our initial consultation so we can tailor our approach accordingly.
How long do you keep my photos?
We archive all client images for three years from the delivery date. During this time, you can request additional prints or files even after your online gallery expires (typically after 60 days). For long-term peace of mind, we recommend downloading and backing up your images as soon as you receive them. Additional backup options, including USB drives and personal cloud storage, are available as add-ons to any package.
